Far North Literacy Development Consortium
The Far North Literacy State Development Consortium, (comprised of Shasta, Plumas, and Modoc Counties of Education with Butte County Office of Education serving as the lead agency), is working to support North State California students as they heal from traumas resulting from devastating wildfires, numerous evacuations and a global pandemic. We are educating our teachers in the Universal Design for Learning model which encourages inclusive classrooms and student voice. We are striving to partner with students, families and community organizations to bring relevant books to our students to increase literacy skills, foster a love of reading and allow our kids to see themselves through a healing lens.
