Superintendent’s Annual High School Art Show

Superintendent’s Annual High School Art Show

BCOE hosted it’s 11th annual Superintendent’s High School Art Show at Chico State’s A Gallery located in the Arts and Humanities building on the Campus of CSU Chico. The awards reception was held with a live performance by the Pleasant Valley High School Jazz Combo on February 20, 2025.

Butte County High School art teachers were invited to submit up to five student works for the art show, sponsored by the BCOE Visual and Performing Arts Program with funding from the California County Superintendents’ Arts Initiative. This year, there were 104 submissions, each judged by a three-member panel that awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and an honorable mention awards in three categories: Demonstrated Skill in a Medium, Evidence of Innovation, and Emphasis on Exploration, and a Best in Show award.

Special thanks to participating schools and their Visual Art and Media Art Teachers: Biggs High School, Chico High School, Durham High School, Fairview High School, Gridley High School, Hearthstone School, Inspire School of Arts & Sciences, Las Plumas High School, Oroville High School, Paradise High School, and Pleasant Valley High School. And thanks to the Turner Print Museum and the Chico State
Department of Art and Art History as well as judges Cameron Kelly (Chico Art Center Gallery Directory) and Reta Rickmers (Artist and Educator) and Cindy Daniluke (Director, Oroville State Theatre).
