School Field Trips
A school visit monca is educational, engaging, and challenging, with just the right amount of fun. We help students gain a new appreciation of the fascinating world of art and discover local artists. Our goal is to inspire young people to dream bigger and reach farther. Art is the perfect metaphor to stimulate their potential. We’ve tailored our program to match grade levels and comprehension skills. Conducted by the Museum’s team of experienced Education Guides, each visit offers unique opportunities for students to learn through instruction and demonstration. Your Educational Tour is a great way to enhance classroom instruction. Students receive an up-close experience with some local art. Teachers can use the topics covered during the field trip to stimulate future lessons in critical thinking and the creative arts.

Roger Steel Museum Experience Program
Local educator Roger Steel was an advocate for education and for underserved populations. To honor his service as monca’s Board President from 2020-21, the monca Board of Directors is launching a program to increase museum access for at-risk and underserved children in Butte County schools. The Roger Steel Museum Experience Program will offset the cost of field trips and summer programs (including bus travel and meals) for children who might not otherwise be able to attend. The museum has kicked off the program with a $3000 allocation for 2022. This will support 6-10 class field trips to monca during this first year, depending on the level of funding requested and the distance to be traveled.
